Are you a man who's struggling to give up alcohol?
My Story: I grew up surrounded by alcohol. 🍷🍺
It was in the house. It was in the culture. Then I spent 15 years in the military where it wasn’t just accepted, it was a staple - and a massive one at that!
After that it became the thing I used to mask everything I wasn’t willing to face: childhood wounds, loss, grief, guilt, the pressure of being a provider, the noise in my head after major spinal surgery and the opioid spiral that followed.
However, every addiction I’ve ever had, I walked away from the same way. Alone. No meetings. No sponsor. Literally ‘cold turkey’ every time.
Completely giving up alcohol came at a cost of a lot of inner work, all by myself. I had to face my demons, do the inner work to take full responsibility as to what I was masking. Guilt, shame, pain, childhood traumas, the whole package. Just like millions of men out there right now.
And in the process I learned firsthand how powerful we actually are when we stop outsourcing our own healing, we live in the most authentic expression of ourselves, including growing back my original curls! 🧑🏻🦱
